Shizuoka » Hamamatsu , Hamanako
This is a fruit-themed leisure park that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike in each of the four seasons.
The vast grounds of this agricultural park are equivalent to nine times the size of the Tokyo Dome, and 4,300 fruit trees of approximately 160 varieties are cultivated.
There are orchards, a huge greenhouse, a food court, a BBQ garden, a pizza studio, a winery, a hot spring bath, and a large playground.
The harvesting experience is especially popular, and visitors can enjoy harvesting all year round, picking a wide variety of fruits by themselves. The almond blossoms (late March to early April) are a beautiful sight not to be missed. Illumination can also be enjoyed during the winter season.
The Tropical Fruit Tree Greenhouse is planted with 330 tropical fruit trees of 80 varieties. Bananas, papayas, mangoes, etc. can be observed.
Other facilities include a lawn, a children’s amusement park, a general store, a fruit parlor, an outdoor theater, and a barbecue house.
The east side area is connected to the west side area by a fruit bridge. Grapes, tangerines, apples, and strawberries are grown here.
In the Fruit Natural History Garden, 32 species, 100 varieties, and 288 trees, mostly citrus, are grown in automated flowerpots.
Visitors can also enjoy wineries and local beer at the food court (restaurant). There are also a variety of activities such as Segway, fluffy square, interesting bicycles and rental bicycles, and illumination. In addition, there is a barbecue garden and one of the largest fountain shows in Japan.
Fruit Picking
About 15 kinds of fruits can be picked annually. Since the fruits are sold by weight, visitors can enjoy them at their own pace, and since they can be picked from a single piece, they are perfect for those who want to enjoy a variety of fruits little by little.
You can take home as much fruit as you pick by weight, and you can eat it on the spot after paying the bill.
Only strawberries are available for all-you-can-eat within the time limit, just like regular strawberry picking.
ACTIVITIES
The large playground equipment area for children is shaped like a fruit and is called the “Fruit Orchestra. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including the very popular Fluffy Mat and the Segway experience popular among adults.
In the west side area, many facilities and events are available for families. Depending on the season, visitors can enjoy activities such as day camping, barbecues, river play, fishing ponds, and sledding.
