You can pick strawberries from mid-December to early May, and enjoy freshly squeezed strawberry juice, soft-serve ice cream with fresh strawberries, and other strawberry sweets.
For souvenirs, freshly picked strawberry packets and strawberry jam are available.
Kuno Ishigaki Strawberry is the birthplace of Ishigaki strawberries and has over 100 years of strawberry cultivation history. Ishigaki cultivation dates back to the Meiji Era when strawberries were planted between stone walls for warmth in the absence of greenhouses.
Today, most of the stone-wall strawberry farmers in Kunou mainly grow the new varieties “Akihime” and “Benihoppe” produced in Kunou.
Akihime is a crossbreed of Kunohime and Onomine, and is characterized by its round, large berries with sweetness and slight acidity.
Benihoppe” is a crossbreed of “Shohime” and “Sachinoka,” and is characterized by its round, dark-colored, red inside, well-balanced sweetness and tartness, rich flavor, and resistance to pain. It has the sweetness of “Shohime” and the richness of “Sachinoka”.
