One of the most scenic spots in Japan

Nihon-daira is one of the most scenic spots designated as a national place of scenic beauty and was selected as the first place in the competition of the 100 best sightseeing spots in Japan. Its name is derived from the deity Nihon Buson.

Fuji, Suruga Bay, the Izu Peninsula, and the city of Shimizu can be seen from the 307-meter-high summit, and the view is truly spectacular.

Fuji over the plum orchards, cherry blossoms, historical spots, and tea gardens, as well as from the windows of the Nihondaira Parkway (Shizuoka City Road Ikeda Nihondaira Line), the access road to the summit.

Nihondaira Yume Terrace with 360-degree view

The Nihondaira Yume Terrace observatory is a place where visitors can better enjoy the view from the summit of Nihondaira Mountain. Inside the building, visitors can experience the history, origins, and cultural values of Nihondaira through projection mapping and other means.

From the glass-walled observation floor on the third floor and the observation corridor spanning approximately 200 meters, visitors can enjoy a beautiful 360-degree view of Mt.

Nihondaira Ropeway

The Nihondaira Ropeway operates as a means of transportation between the summit of Nihondaira Mountain and Kunouzan Toshogu Shrine.

Kunou in just 5 minutes, during which time you can enjoy an aerial view of the beauty of Suruga Bay and the seasonal scenery of Byobu-dani.

A ride on the Nihondaira Ropeway will also be a memorable part of your trip.

Kunouzan Toshogu Shrine

This shrine was built on Kunouzan and is associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu. The main hall, the Ishinoma (stone room), and the hall of worship, all in the gorgeous Gongen-zukuri architectural style, are designated as national treasures.

Beyond the hall of worship is the “Shimbyo” (the tomb of Tokugawa Ieyasu). It is known as a place where visitors can experience history and a sacred atmosphere.

Mother and Child Statue

At the top of the mountain, there is a statue of a mother and child from the children’s song “The Red Shoes. The statue is named after the model of the nursery rhyme, a girl and her mother, who were both from Shimizu Ward. It is a reminder to visitors of the world of the nursery rhyme.

Mountaintop viewing platform

At the top of the mountain is the “Mountaintop Ginmodai” where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Fuji and the Port of Shimizu. Fuji and Shimizu Port. Because it is located on high ground, it is an excellent spot to enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view.

Nihondaira Zoo

Located halfway up Nihondaira, the zoo is especially popular with children, who can interact with a variety of animals.
