This is an elegant walking path along the Katsura River in the center of the Shuzenji hot spring resort area.
Walking along the path leading from Tokko no Yu, the symbol of Shuzenji Onsen, you will find a nostalgic tea house, an atmospheric red bridge over the Katsura River, and a fire watchtower.
The path through the bamboo grove is only about 100 meters from there, but it is a world of tranquility and its atmosphere is exceptionally wonderful.
The scenery of the bamboo grove, with its natural stones and Kenninji and Katsura fences, is befitting of Shuzenji, known as Izu’s “Little Kyoto,” and the sound of bamboo bamboos touching the wind is refreshing.

In the center of the bamboo grove is a circular bench made of large bamboos, where you can sit and feel the breeze.
At dusk, the area is illuminated, creating a fantastic atmosphere. Such a night walk is also recommended (illumination is from sunset to 23:00).
There is also a free gallery of Japanese architecture called “Shuzenji Kairo” within the path. Here, visitors can admire photographic works of beautiful landscapes of Shuzenji’s four seasons displayed on the four walls.
The path is located in the center of the hot spring resort area, so visitors can stop by for a stroll. We invite you to visit the bamboo grove path and spend a moment of tranquility, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, surrounded by a pleasant breeze.

Access from Shuzenji Station on the Izu Hakone Railway Sunzu Line.
From “Shuzenji Station” of Izu Hakone Railway Sunzu Line, take the bus bound for Shuzenji Onsen (Shuzenji Hot Spring). 8 minutes → get off at the last stop “Shuzenji Onsen” and walk 5 minutes.
