Shizuoka » Shimoda, Minami-Izu » Izu (Izu Peninsula)
Boardwalks, sundecks, and palm leaf umbrellas along the sandy beach create a pleasant tropical atmosphere.
It is one of the best beaches in Shizuoka Prefecture, selected as one of the 88 best beaches in Japan and one of the 100 best beaches in Japan by the Ministry of the Environment, for its excellent water quality and comfort.
The central part of the beach is surrounded by stone breakwaters and is unaffected by rough seas.
In addition to the sandy beach, there are many rocky areas and coves, which are popular with families because of the quiet waves.
On fine days, visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of the islands of the Izu Islands.
Shirahama Beach is bordered by Shirahama Shrine, with the northern part known as Central Beach and the southern part as Shirahama Ohama, the northern part of which is Shirahama Central Beach.
The coastline is a wonderful spot to enjoy a resort atmosphere with wooden decks, pergolas, and wooden boardwalks.
