The Amagi Volcano’s lava has created a series of rugged cliffs on this coast, which has been turned into a park using the natural environment as it is. A popular spot for tourists, a boardwalk with a thrilling suspension bridge has been developed.
The 9-km-long hiking course, centered on the Kadonowaki Lighthouse, which also serves as an observation deck, offers visitors a chance to observe more than 80 capes and 20 reefs, as well as the nature and creatures unique to the Jōgasaki Coast.
The Kadonowaki Suspension Bridge, also known as the Jōgasaki Suspension Bridge, is a 48-meter-long, 23-meter-high suspension bridge built over a precipitous cliff, providing a thrilling experience.
In addition, in a corner of the Hashidate Plaza, there is a monument to the haiku poems of Mizuhara Akio Sakako. The monument is inscribed with haiku poems written by Mizuhara Akizakurako in her own hand, which she composed in this area.
This is a rias coastline formed by lava that flowed into the sea when Mt. Omuro erupted about 4,000 years ago, reclaiming nearly 2 km of the coastline.
Located on the east coast of the central Izu Peninsula, the rugged cliffs stretch from Tomido to Hachimanno, south of Ito City. This unique scenery attracts many tourists.
