Mine Onsen Dafunto Koen is a place where you can see up close the powerful hot springs of Mine Onsen, which are said to be the best in the East.
It is said that Mine Onsen’s great fountain was created in 1926 when it erupted 50 meters above the ground with an explosive sound.
More than 90 years later, it continues to erupt unceasingly.
The powerful self-heating hot spring gushes out 600 liters of hot spring water at 100 degrees Celsius per minute, rising to about 30 meters above the ground.
Normally, the spring is shut down, but it is open to the public seven times a day, every hour for about one minute. Closed on Fridays and Tuesdays for source maintenance.
The hot springs cool down, so it is safe to observe them up close and experience the powerful gushing water (you may get wet).
The park has footbaths, hot spring heat benches, health and fitness benches, a corner for making fountainhead eggs, a fountainhead omikuji (fortune), and a store and cafe selling local products and souvenirs, as well as a tourist information corner.
Visitors can also use the hot spring water to make Tai Fountain Eggs or enjoy the footbath. The hot spring is a simple gypsum-containing, slightly saline spring that is effective for neuralgia, rheumatism, and women’s diseases.
A scooper is provided so that you can experience the earth’s shower.
Ayu fishing is popular at this hot spring located on the south side of the middle reaches of the Kawazu River, and the town-run Odoriko Onsen Kaikan is located along the Kawazu River, where visitors can also enjoy a day trip.
Looking up at the Amagi Mountain Range and overlooking the clear waters of the Kawazu River, this quiet hot spring in the countryside is also known for its mild climate and the use of hot spring heat to promote the cultivation of carnations and other flowers.
