Hirizohama

A secluded spot with crystal clear waters

Accessible only by ferry, this beach is popular for its extremely clear and transparent waters, and is crowded with bathers who enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and diving during the summer months.

It is designated as a national park, and snorkelers can observe colorful fish swimming in the emerald green sea.

Underwater, you will be greeted by eda coral, anemones, and an abundance of several species of migratory fish, making it look like a natural aquarium.

Nudibranchs and clown shrimps can also be seen, and the beauty of the fish is a sight to behold.

Because of the good passage of the tide, the transparency of the water is one of the best in Japan, and you can clearly see pebbles 5 meters below the sea floor.

However, the currents are fast in some areas, so care must be taken. Transparency is closely related to the tide in the open sea and can change from morning to afternoon.

In addition, although this beach is connected to land, it cannot be reached by land as there is no road, and the beach can be reached by a ferry boat, which takes about 5 minutes to swing to the beach.

Once you register, you can board all the boats going back and forth; they depart every five minutes, and there are restrooms for your peace of mind.

In recent years, the beach has become increasingly popular, and admission is sometimes restricted. Early morning visits are recommended, as the parking lot fills up quickly.

The natural terrain, including the steep cliffs that cover the beach and the trees that grow there, is a spectacular view that is far removed from Japan, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a tropical resort.
